Bamberg - With effect from 1st September 2019, SCHULZ Unternehmensfamilie e.K. (SCHULZ family of companies), which also includes the long-established Bamberg company KASPAR SCHULZ Brauereimaschinenfabrik & Apparatebauanstalt GmbH, took over the majority shares of KÜNZEL Maschinenbau GmbH based in Mainleus, Germany. KÜNZEL is one of the leading manufacturers in the field of malt handling and grist mills for breweries.
With this stake in KÜNZEL Maschinenbau GmbH, the product range of KASPAR SCHULZ will be expanded to include the upstream part of the value chain, from receiving the malt to milling. This also means that the company is now in a position to offer turnkey concepts in the malting plant market segment, thus opening up new growth markets.
Founded by Wilhelm Künzel in Kulmbach in 1922, the company initially focused on manufacturing machinery and equipment for flour mills. Based on the expertise gained in this area, they later expanded their product range to include brewery grist mills and plant components for malting plants. In 2018, KÜNZEL achieved an annual turnover of approx. 23.9 million euros with 63 employees.
A long-standing, traditional company in its 10th generation, KASPAR SCHULZ has been manufacturing brewing equipment in Bamberg since 1677 to the highest technical and production quality standards. The in-house research and development department ensures that the products are always equipped with the latest technological innovations. Just a few weeks ago, KASPAR SCHULZ was awarded the TOP100 prize for the second time. This award honours SCHULZ as one of the most innovative mid-sized companies in Germany. By joining forces with KÜNZEL Maschinenbau GmbH, Johannes Schulz-Hess, owner of SCHULZ Unternehmensfamilie e.K., is pushing for further growth and, following the acquisition of HINKE Tankbau GmbH in 2016, is establishing KASPAR SCHULZ as a system provider in the industry.
